You will start your journey in the fascinating city of Barcelona, a place where modernity and history coexist in perfect harmony. From Barcelona, you will embark on a route that will take you through breathtaking landscapes and destinations full of art and history.
Your first stop will be in Figueres, where we can visit the Dalí Theatre-Museum. This museum, designed by Salvador Dalí himself, is a true work of art in itself and houses one of the most extensive collections of works by the famous surrealist painter. Here, you’ll be able to immerse yourself in Dalí’s dreamlike and fascinating world, with works ranging from his early artistic experimentations to his most renowned surrealist creations.
We will continue route to Narbonne, a charming French city that is located on the Mediterranean coast. In Narbonne, you can stroll through its historic cobbled streets, visit the impressive Cathedral of Saint-Just and Saint-Pasteur, and enjoy a meal in one of its many restaurants with terraces. We also recommend stopping at the Horreum, a Roman underground warehouse, to get a glimpse of the city’s rich history.
Optionally, we can have lunch at the famous restaurant Le Grans Buffets, the largest buffet restaurant in Europe. Enjoy a collection of exceptional cheeses, or original French pates. (requires prior reservation well in advance, however it is possible to put on hold)
After Narbonne, we will head to Nîmes, a city that is famous for its impressive Roman architecture. Here, you can visit the Maison Carrée, one of the best preserved Roman temples in the world, and the Roman amphitheater, which is still used for various events and shows. You could also take a stroll through the Jardins de la Fontaine, a beautiful green space that houses more Roman relics.
Your tour will culminate in the vibrant port city of Marseille, the heart of the French Mediterranean. Marseille is a wonderful mix of cultures and eras, with a rich maritime history and a culinary scene that is a foodie’s delight. While you’re here, be sure to visit the old port, “Vieux-Port”, and the iconic “Basilique Notre-Dame de la Garde” for unparalleled panoramic views of the city and sea.
You can close your day with dinner at one of the seaside restaurants, where you can sample local specialties such as Bouillabaisse.
